Jacqueline Fernandez grew up in Bahrain, Manama. She is Sri Lankan and comes from a multiethnic background. Jacqueline Fernandez's mom Kim and her father Elroy are both Malaysians. Jacqueline is the oldest of two siblings and a younger sibling. Due to unrest in Lanka, her parents relocated to Bahrain during the 1980s. After completing the schooling in Bahrain she received a Scholarship to the University of Sydney to pursue the Media and Communications Degree in Sydney, Australia. An avid lover of different cultures as well as languages, she enrolled in Berlitz Language School where she learned Spanish and honed her French and Arabic. In 2006, she won the Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March 2006 and also competed in Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone was able to begin her work on television. She hosted the television show Lanka Business Report which focused on business in Sri Lanka. Padukone's father was a badminton player Prakash Padukone. Padukone has had a childhood in Copenhagen and Bangalore. She was a badminton player at the national championships while an teen, but she gave her sporting career in order in order to be a model. Padukone is born in Mangalorean heritage Her mother language is Konkani. Her ancestors come from the town of Padukone located in Kundapura Taluk, in the Udupi district of Karnataka state, which is located in India. Her father, Prakash Padukone, is an international badminton champion who now retired. Her mother is a traveling agent.
